Eternal quenching of thirst

"but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.” John 4:14

Drinking of the eternal spring

Look into your heart and see the wrongful nature of it. Take your life and everything in it and cleanse the stains of sin. Clean off your heart of past wrongs and look to a brighter future in the spirit of God. We, too often, get lost in what God can do for us as opposed to what we need to do to serve God. We see examples of this throughout the scriptures. We run across so many that hold themselves in such a high stature and that they have it figured out. No one, and I mean no one, is above any other. We cannot measure ourselves by the possessions we have. Our social constructs cannot be what separates us from others. As Christians, we cannot look at anyone else lesser than our own image. There was only one perfect being that ever walked this earth and Jesus was killed for being unblemished like the unblemished lamb being offered to God.

Samarian well

Jesus was travelling with his followers and made their way to Samaria. He travelled to the place of drawing water where Jacob's well was established. Jesus knew He would find the young woman there. He spoke to her as if she was in need of water to drink. Now, this woman believed Jesus to be just a prophet. He asked for a drink, and she basically said get your own, but then He offered her a drink. She pointed out to Him, that He had no fetching pale. Then Jesus spoke of eternal living water. She felt His love and mercy among her. Her peace in her heart became full and joy overwhelmed her. Jesus provided her with the grace that no others would.

Living water

God's word is our living water! The eternal spring will never be dry. God's grace will keep our thirst quenched without ever needing a cup or a pale to fetch water. We will ascend to the Heavenly places and reside in the kingdom of God. Psalms 23 says, "I shall not want." This means we will never want pain or sufferings to go away. God will take all that away. It does not mean we will have riches of money and all the things we want to show off to others and brag and boast. The eternal well of God's true love, grace, and mercy will be never ending. There will be no more sin and our wretched human nature will be gone. In order for us to get the greatest gift from God, we must endure the wickedness of our fleshly desires. We must wade through the putrid waste and seek God, for we have no idea that we are not God's desire. God should be our desire. He, and only He, can remove all the destruction from our human nature.

God, Father of Christ, forgive us for our sins. Praise Jesus, that we have the opportunity to repent and serve you as our Holy God. Thank You for our blessings of eternal water when we come to you in Heaven. God, almighty provide us the path to You and let us repent for our wickedness so that we may walk in Your light. In your name, we pray. Amen!
