Father's day

"3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him." Ephesians 1:3-4

What is a father?

Someone who loves unconditionally. Someone who sacrifices everything for everyone around them and continues to drive harder. A father is someone who does not just sit back and let the children go undisciplined, makes them mind out and punishes out of love. A love that only a father can provide to his children and family. Even when a child is in need that isn't his, he will step up and provide protection. That is a father. Father's day is just another day on the calendar. We always have these commercialized, specific, and eventful days that lead to quality marketing and end-caps at all the stores. What a better way to show appreciation than a twenty dollar gift or an overpriced hallmark card. Being a father is not about gifts from Wal-Mart or the day to get waited on hand and foot by your family. It is so much more! It is the roles and responsibilities that allow us men to get a little appreciation for being men and raising our children, BUT it is also our responsibility to exalt God almighty for being the Heavenly Father. We should do this every day but especially on this day.

God is the Father of all! He shows us unconditional love and like a good parent, punishes us when we need correcting. I know that sounds cliche, but I am being honest. If you have a child that throws a tantrum over some ice cream and you spank them for the outburst and disrespect of your answer, did you do it from love or hate? It is out of love and teaching! If God does not correct our bad behavior then we live in sin through a desire for it! Sin is the tantrum that we throw in order to get what we want. I know that is a bad example, but anything that I try to explain the sovereignty of God is going to be flawed. Although we are fathers, we are the Father!

I hope that you had a great fathers day with your family and got to spend time praising the Lord and then having a day of just relaxation.
